My story
Before coaching, I spent most of my working life in project delivery. I’ve managed 7-figure corporate infrastructure roll outs, been part of a team delivering slick web apps to household name brands, and collaborated with some of the world’s largest tech companies BUT what really left me buzzing at the end of the day was supporting the people I worked with to find joy and purpose in their work, be proud of themselves, and achieve more than they ever thought they could. That’s what lead me to coaching.
I started my coaching practice as a side-hustle in 2018 after completing formally accredited coach training and made it my full-time day job early in 2020. Since then I’ve done a whole lot more professional development, gained some more qualifications and found great joy in working with hundreds of clients on their career development.
Over time, I’ve been shaping my work life into one with purpose that brings me joy and I’ll keep tweaking it as I grow. Now I get to share the tools I’ve learned along the way to help my clients do the same. Sometimes it’s challenging (on both sides) – no two days or clients are the same. And that’s what I love about it. I was born in Harrogate in Yorkshire. Over the decades, I’ve made my way slowly south down the UK and I now live in Bristol – I lost the northern accent along the way. I’m an outgoing introvert: I love spending time in groups and meeting new people, but I also really value time alone to recharge. I write stories and poems, I read, I crochet and I draw in my spare time – anything that gets my imagination and creativity going. I like coffee, not tea. I prefer dogs to cats.
My values
I often help people to articulate and explore their values in coaching sessions. Our values are the principles that we live our life by – they inform our decisions and behaviour. They tell you a lot about a person – we tend to connect more readily and deeply with people when we understand what’s important to them. Here’s mine:
BE YOURSELF. Have the strength to always be your imperfect, learning, true self.
EMPOWER OTHERS. Create opportunities for everyone to share, choose, and follow their own path.
GIVE GENEROUSLY. Freely share time, knowledge, and resources. Seek out ways to share with anyone who would not otherwise have access.
THINK DIFFERENTLY. Stay curious. Question everything. Explore all perspectives. Allow time and space for creativity.
BE WORTHY OF TRUST. Mean what you say. Do what you say you will. Do what you do as well as you can.
